    County Sticker

I was parked in my school parking lot. When i got out of school i found a ticket on my windshield. A 50 dollar fine for not having my county sticker. I hardly drive this car i took to school, and i did purchase my county sticker, i just never remembered to apply it to this car i hardly drove. I have proof that i purchased the sticker with my reciet. Is there any possibilty of me not having to pay the fine, Even if i bought my sticker. It wasn't like i was trying to cheat the county and not buy one at all. Any help? Should i try to talk to the deupty who gave me the ticket in my school parking lot.. which are they aloud to even do?.. or just suck it up and pay the fine? :(
    Thanks

Put the sticker on the car and say "what do you mean i dont have a sticker"

    Ok Just joking

Just pay the fine, you admit that you made a mistake and didnt have the sticker so pay it and learn from your mistakes.

Well let me tell you a little story...

In Michigan...If you do not have your proof of insurance/registration on you...and you happened to get stopped by the police...It is a $300.00 fine. Now that is if you have purchased them, just don't have them on you at the time of the stop. Coincidentally, it is the same fine even if you have never paid your insurance or your registration and you get stopped without having either. So my point...

If you are supposed to have it on your vehicle and you don't...expecting the fine is like expecting a baby to go do do in its diaper. I can't begin to tell you how the meter Nazi's (NO I AM NOT USING THIS WORD OFFENSIVELY) are here about parking, let alone various required stickers.

I am not sure what type of police you have at your school, but why don't you try contacting them, and telling them the situation and maybe they can direct you as to how a first offense may end up, assuming this is your first at the school.

You could go down to the station and show them that you had it and had forgot to put it on, and they may take the ticket back. There have been timeswhen I have wrote a ticket for Failure to Produce NH Drivers License, and failure to apply registration decals, and as long as the person shows me that they have them in within 72 hrs, I generally take the ticket back.

I would check the law and see what it says as to displaying the sticker.

We have several fix it type tickets where if proof is shown of insurance, DL, registration, the case is automatically dropped.

yeah, check the statue that is listed on the ticket and see if the ticket is for not "Having" or not "Displaying" the sticker. If it is Having then you will probabyl wind up going to court, showing them proof that you had the sticker and being found not guilty. If the statute says the offence is not 'Displaying' the sticker then suck it up, pay it and move on, because per the wording, you ARE guilty. Sorry! :(

I know here most cops wouldn't take the ticket back. They would even give you a ticket if the sticker was placed on the dashboard but not affixed to the proper window. Their theory is that you could be using that sticker (that is meant for one car) on many others... but I have no idea what a "county" sticker is anyway.

That rotten $300 fine for not having proof of insurance even if you are insured is on its deathbed, with little chance of surviving much longer.

On Tuesday, the state Senate voted 32-5 to put the fine out of our misery, three months after the state House did the same thing.

All that's left is for some changes to be approved, then for it to be signed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

In Virginia, 9 times out of 10, you can show up for the court date and show the Judge the receipt. Charges are usually dropped once you do that.
