Example would be "Big Show" from WWE. He's 7'2'' and 500lbs.
Imagine if that beast was high on drugs and did not want to go to jail. Would cops try to bring him down with mace and pure brute force, or would they shoot first?

but at least we had fun joking about him being "disarming" and "short-handed".
LOL
I arrested a male who was mentally ill after he pulled me through the open window of my police vehicle. Took seven of us to hold him down, after charge he wept like a baby.
I had a guy so large I couldn't get him in the back seat of a Vic with a cage. I tried pushing on him and getting him to lay down........nothing worked. I had to call an ambulance to transport him for me.
Back to the original question.........he would be a good target for the taser designed for large animals. Forget that wimpy one they give us on the street, lets use the big gun.
that man is the kind of guy that can withstand taser shocks.
(as such a Marine did half his size)

The marine I saw who got hit with the taser, didnt fall to the ground kicking, but his movements were severly restricted, which would still have made it easier for officers to cuff him. Just because you're still standing when you get shocked doesnt mean its not being effective.

"The marine" is Gunny Marrero. He's very cool. He was the instructor for the instructor class I went through. He did NOT remain standing after being tased. He said (as can be seen in the video) that when he was tased the first time he last a couple seconds and went down. He thought that, after thinking about it and experienceing the 1st tase, that he would be able to manage himself better the second round, maybe even fighting his way through it. The second time he was tased he locked up (on his feet) and then went down... faster than he did on the 1st round.
He stated that of all the classes that he has instructed (or had feedback from), he has heard of only 1 guy not fall down after being tased. He said that it was some big Samoan from Hawaii. The guy was frozen in place, but did not fall. It happened both times that the guy was tased. They gave him a shove and he went down like a sack of potatoes.
Oh, and one more thing... THERE IS NO BIG VERSION FOR LARGE ANIMALS. As I understand it, they used an specially tuned X26. Apparently, they can be programmed (via the magazine-like battery port) to modify voltage, amps and pulse rate.

ok first, I wasn't even talking about the video you guys are, I'm reffering to the guy that was able to withstand enough of it to ask them to turn it off after a few seconds of the juice. I'm not even sure it was a video that I saw, it may have well just been a news story or article on it.

well he was taking it enough still standing probably forzen though, that is probably what happened, he was able to withstand it enough to ask them to stop before his pain limit was actually reached.

Well, I was scraming to make it stop! LOL
The only time I saw a guy go through it was when one of the leads did not make a good, constant contact. It would work well, then as his shirt swung away it would jsut burnsome. Then it would swing back towards him and work well, etc.

Yes, this happened to me as well when I went through m26 taser cert. class. they hooked the prongs to me rather than shooting me, one to my waist and one to my back. However, the prong on my back was not a good connection and it felt like someone trying to twist my skin off... then they re-hooked that one to my shoulder and it was a good connection, All I could think when I was done was "I shoulda faked it the first time"
