    PRT-weight?

Ok, I’m 25 years old, 6’ 1”, and I weigh 220lbs. According to a chart by the NY State Police I should weigh about 185lbs. How can this be? I would say that I could stand to loose about 20lbs, but would I really need to get down to that weight? Once I loose the fat, I will be gaining muscle weight, which may bring my weight up above 200. What do I do? I am taking the Police exam in July and I know they have similar standards to the state police. I want to be in the right weight range, any ideas? Can I get disqualified for being to muscular?

as long as you're able to pass their tests, i can't imagine you'd still get dq'd due to weight. among other requirements, you'll need to do 40 situps in 60 seconds and run 1.5 miles in less than 12 minutes. if you can hack that, you're weight shouldn't be an issue. it would be to your advantage to be as light as possible. good luck.

They use skin caliper testing if you do not fit in the those ranges. I'm sure a great deal of candidates do not fit in those ranges for they do seem a little ridiculous. If you are in good enough shape to pass the physical tests, chances are you are healthy enough to pass anyways.
