    Parking Tickets

I had two parking tickets that I received about 3 or 4 years ago. They are from a different state then the state I live in now. I never paid them. They got filed away and I forgot about them. I was wandering if I should pay them or just leave them alone. I never received any letters telling me about them, but I am looking to become a police officer in January of this year. I want to know if they will affect me. I know they are usually regarded as unimportant, but if I need to come clear and pay them, than that is what I want to do. So, should I take care of them, or leave them alone?

    Thanks

I'd personally pay those things off--get on the phone with the departments that issued them and make amends with them. Better to settle up with them now before the department you're applying for checks your record and finds outstanding tickets.

    tickets

Contact the municipalities involved and resolve the situation before you apply for the LEO job. Some parking tickets can hang around for years to haunt you.

Yeah that's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure it didn’t make things worse for me. Looks like I will be paying them off. It so stupid I let it go this long. The total for the two tickets equals $36.00.

    Thanks for the responses.

best to pay them off, but unless they are in an area where you worked, lived or went to school, no agency will notice them anyways. but at least theyll be paid

The total of the tickets may be substantially more. Most jurisdictions add late fees. Ours double the fine amount every month.

Pay up now. If you are asked during an interview or on an application " do you have any traffic warrants or unpaid fines outstanding ?" , how do you want to be able to answer ??!!

I would call ahead to check on the amount and to see if they are valid. Our traffic tickets are purged after 3 years, they may be gone.
