What would my chances be of getting hired?

Here is a brief history of what I have done.

Been in the military for almost 12yrs - not a blemish on my record
Before I came into the military I got into a little it of trouble. Bad things I have done are: caught stealing twice, possesion of beer by a minor, DWI (rigth before i went to basic), smoked pot twice (what a dumb move), maybe soem other childish things nothign major.

The one thing that I think would DQ me is Me and the X filed bankruptcy about 8 months ago. Other then that I would say I have a pretty good shot. What do you all think?

I think the only real problem is the bankruptcy. Most departments dont want people that get into situations where they "gotta" get some cash fast. Its to tempting for people who have finance problems when you are running into mopes with a pockets full of hundreds. Also some departments absolutly DQ anyone with a DUI conviction. If you try hard enough you will get on somewhere but it may not be your first choice department. Have a couple screw ups when your a teen usually doesnt hurt to bad. But the number one thing to remember is DONT LIE ABOUT IT ON THE POLYGRAPH!!! Any department would rather hear you admit you smoked dope 2x then hear you explain why you are showing deciption on a question.

I forgot to mention on the DUI I wasn'tt charged (not sure that matters), instead they called pops to come get me =) That is the one good thing about getting into trouble on a military installation.

Youre good, You may not get on a department that pays 50k a year but you'll find a job. the biggets ste back was the DUI, although it was 12 years ago. The pot, like the guy said before, just be honest. everyone was a kid once.. good luck

If everything you mentioned besides the bankruptcy happened 12 yrs ago, that is long enough you will be fine. And if the DUI wasn't actually charged than it WASN'T a DUI. Get a certified copy of your driving record from your DMV ( may cost you $5 or $10 ).

The single biggest issue I see is the bankruptcy. It will be a stumbling block. I would apply anywaya nd see what happens.
