    Angry Hit-N-Run

I live in NYC, and was in a car accident today. Another driver crossed the double yellow lines and tried to make a left right in front of me. There was a paramedic right behind me and he saw the whole thing. I swerved, hit the brake, but we still collided. Damn SUV's... they don't stop on a dime! I got out and said "How could you do that?". He then attempted to hand me his registration when the paramedic approached and started asking questions. The other driver got back into his car and sped off before I got his info. I may know where he works, but when the police contacted the restaurant, they stated he doesn't work for them. What can I do? I don't want to let him get away with this. Also, I'm on the NYPD waiting list and the investigators said we have to tell them if we get arrested or into an accident. Would it be best to call my investigator and advise him of the accident? Or does it not matter since they haven't even gotten to me yet... I'm still just a # on a list. Please advise.

Well you said that they told you to tell them if you got into an accident. Yes you should tell them.

You said you thought this guy worked in a restaurant. What gave you that idea? Did you see him there before, or did he tell you that. Sometimes when the police call a business looking for someone, the person answering the phone will lie saying they don't work there. If you think you saw him there, stop by and see for yourself. If you see him in there, call the police and let them handle it.

Who cares where he works...you get his plate and that should be good enough. We take hit n runs fairly seriously here. We put a local want on the plate and we impound it if we locate it. It sits in the impound yard until they come straighten out the accident.

You better tell the investigator about the accident...........sad way to not get the job when you weren't even at fault.

Did you get his plate#? That's all you need. Did you file a police report? Get a statement from the Paramedic?

Tell the investigator that you were in an accident - That much seems kinda obvious to me...

I hope they get this guy. I know how you feel. I was on my way home one night shortly after my first wife and I separated when a car pulled out in front of me. I slammed into his right rear with the drivers side front of my car. luckly I slid onto a side road insted of the ditch. When I got out of my car the other one was nowhere to be seen. He was never found. My car was totaled. As far as this guy knew I could have been hurt very badly and he still took of.
You should tell the investigator about this. It wasn't even you fault to begin with.
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....
