    Question Making A Report?????

I have been a reserve deputy for a year,3yrs ago I went through a bitter divorce with my ex and we had some problems,we only talk when its buisness about my daughter and get along pretty well most of the time,I am re-married and me and my wife mind our own buisness, the other night my ex calls out of the blue drunk and talking crazy to my new wife, and making threats to her and me.......I made a report and called a deputy on duty and turned it in for harassing calls because I felt un-comfortable and was at dis-belief that she would do this,a detective called the next day and wanted to know if I wanted them to do anything? I told him, I just wanted it to be a record for future reference,my ex had already called me the next morning to make visitation arrangements for my daughter and acted as if nothing happened but showed some remorse and you could tell she might not have remembered what she had said or done? I felt like maybe I over reacted but I dont trust her because of our past experiences,I felt that I needed to cover myself even more since Im wearing the blue........Is this pretty normal in le? did I do the right thing? do depts hold it against their people to file a report?the detective acted as if I did the proper thing.

I think you did the right thing. Now you'll have a record and if it keeps continuing to the point where you want to file charges it will be much easier when the courts see a record of the calls instead of going on your word.

It doesn't matter if you're the President, a cop, or a McDonalds hamburger cook, you can't control your ex or other people's actions. I would think that your superiors would understand that. From a non-LEO viewpoint you did the right thing.

You did the right thing. You never know how evil someone is until you divorce them.
