    "gig" paper-quick question

im currently in a police academy in california. we are given "gig" papers when we are "bad". if you have ever heard of them then you know what they are. they are usually about 1-2 pages however my class was exceptionally "bad" and we were given a 2000 word "gig". i am trying was trying to flash my knowledge but seemed to get myself in too deep. i don't want to start rewriting the "gig" because i am half way into it. so if you guys could answer this quick question then i will get back to my "gig".

    is this correct?:
if a person is arrested for assault but in court pleads down to a disorderly conduct (or a lesser charge of the original) is he/she guilty of assualt but faces the punishment of disorderly conduct or are they just guilty of disorderly conduct (and have nothing to do with assault)?

another example if that was confusing:
if a person is arrested for DUI and in court pleads to a reckless driving or negligence are they guilty of DUI or are they guilty of reckless driving (or negligence)?

thank you so much. i would hate to get "tac'ed" if i got this wrong!!!!!

WHatever is pled to and the court accepts as such a plea is what the final record will show they were found guilty/pled guilty of. Regardless of the initial charge.

are you allowed to white out any words? are they harsh as can be on your handwriting? they make us keep 1/2 inch margins and if the end of all the lines do not make a nice line down the paper it is handed back to us. oh, how i hate gigs! (im sure you can feel my pain!!!)

We can't white out any words. The memos are on blue paper. And as far as handwriting goes, they aren't real strict. But if they can't read it then you have to do it again. And they don't make us line up words are keep neat margins. That seems a lil over the top if you ask me.

    (Break in my silence)
That is one of my biggest fear, my handwriting is. I hope that not all CA Acadamys are that strict about handwriting. I have such a had time writing they gave me at my high school whats called a 5-0-4 plan. An individualized education program (IEP) . Special Ed to be exact beacuse I needed to have a computer in all my classes so my teachers could read my work. however when I fill in tow sheets I write just fine.
Its reports that are messy. I cant write for long ammounts of time. This is going to be a problem for me I know it.

lets just say i have never spent so much time on writing one two pages of paper. i mean i and the other guys are taking an hour and half to write one gig. its write, mess up, crumple, write a new one, mess up, crumple. and after you finish two a night (only for the first week) i would feel so accomplished. then the next day a tac officer would give it back and circle a word because i did a letter to dark and thick.

Surferboy, I went to the academy in California and we had gig papers too. I had to write one once when I couldn't answer a code quiz question at morning line-up, and another when the guy who stood next to me didn't get his shoes as shiney as mine (I'd been assigned to "teach" him). My best advice to you is to try not to get anymore. Easier said than done, I know LOL. Good luck, and have fun in the academy!
