Use of blue/amber lights for construction?

My husband wants to purchase a amber warning light to put on his truck (magnet mount) while he is on a construction jobsite. He found the style he likes at a local truck customizer. However it comes with one amber light and one blue light. Is this legal for Texas? Can he use this or is it for emergency vehicles only?

Also, where can I find it documented? DPS, TXDOT, OSHA?

Dont know about Texas, but out here the blue would be a No-no. However, if the construction vehicle wasnt moving and someone could tell it was construction, not Policework, I dont think anyone would ask any questions that go any higher than a little gawking in the briefing room.

In my state, a blue light means you are a volunteer fireman or ambulance crew member responding to a call.

Why not call your local PD and ask them ? They would be the ones who would take any official action if it was illegal to use them.

Call your local PD or the DPS to find out.

I can tell you all about the laws in my state, but that isn't going to be any help!!

Construction crews in copperas cove, tx, use them all the time, amber and blue. I'm a dispatcher so monday night at work i'll look for the specifics on it all, unless a verified leo answers before me.

Thanks everyone for your reply. He ordered it, but I made him order a second amber bulb to replace the blue - just in case!
