Good God, I hope that's not how you normally engage in written communication.....

It's not just convictions, it's past behaviors too. I would suspect the detective obtained more information from someone about the circumstances of that event. I don't know what kind of help you expect from us though. If they rejected you, they rejected you. WSP has pretty high standards and to my knowledge, there is no appeal process.

    retdetsge,
Sorry for the way it came out I didn't put a lot a thought into the written format This is my first time using this and I just wanted to try and get any feed back possible. Now during my Interview I had went over the standards with the interview officers and I met all requirements. I am not a criminal nor do I have a horrible record it was just an honest mistake that I made during my military service. And I understand having a patter of events but I do not have any. I also state my NJP on my applications and the WSP still processed them saying qualifications met. So could it have been the way he mis-interpreted my explanation?. A mistake on my part is When he told me I was DQ'd I didn’t ask for explanation I simply was just in shock and left and didn’t start thinking. So now im just trying to get feedback from others simply what to try and do. Do you think emailing HR to get a clarification or maybe the Recruiters?

Just because you meet all their minimum standards does NOT guarantee you a job with that agency. Minimum standards are just that, MINIMUMS. You can meet all of those requirements and still not be hired, as you've found out. You don't have to be a criminal, you don't have to have a horrible record.

Also, what you did was not a mistake. A mistake is something like putting two different colored socks on in the morning while getting dressed for work. YOU made a conscious decision to let the argument or whatever it was escalate into a physical altercation. Doesn't matter if the military didn't prosecute you or you weren't convicted, the WSP feel that your incident was not within their standards for people they want working with them, and that's that. Done. The end. Finito. You don't know that he misinterpreted your explanation, he probably got it clear as a bell, and then decided you weren't for them.

Also, in your second post you talk about an NJP that you didn't mention in your first post. Could that have anything to do with the incident you're talking about? If so, and you were punished in the NJP, then that IS a conviction.

And as far as your "mistake" of not asking for clarification then, it wouldn't have done any good because most agencies let you know by mail and there's no one to ask for clarification there. You just accept and move on. Your best bet is to start applying to other agencies if you want to become a LEO, because WSP is not in your future. Don't bother them with emails or phone calls, 'cause they are done with you.

Yep, a NJP is essentially pleading guilty to a charge. If you had wanted to plead innocent, you could have asked for a court martial.
