    Question Stealing Trash?

This might be a stupid thing but in the past two months I've "lost" 3 trash cans. I put them out in the morn and the garbage men come at around 745am and I leave at 715am for work... anyway the first time I didn't think anything of it really. Just thought maybe it blew away or a someone just took it for whatever reason. Then a month later it happened again. I looked all around the street for it but it was gone. Kinda pissed me off but what can you do. Now this month AGAIN, its missing. I don't know if its someone playing games with me or if its the garbage men (haha) or if its one of these shady people that live on my street. I shred all documents so I should be ok there but why the hell would they want my trash cans!?!?!

I can only think of two things - someone is playing around or someone is fishing in my garbage for info. I don't know why they would - i mean i leave at 715am so that gives them about a half hour to go grab my garbage can.....

any ideas? i know this might sound stupid but it bugs me! haha

You must through away some good stuff

Have you thought about spray painting you address is huge block letters on the can? At least then, you could drive around he neighborhood and steal your trash back.

If there is not that much elapsed time from when you put the trash out to when they come to pick it up...why don't you just throw the bags out there...That is what I do. As I do not think to highly of my neighbors.

Well Sweetheart even the Police can pick up your trash...LOL Whether it is in a can or not...

My biggest concern is for the animals around. But I try to mulch most food in the disposal. That helps keep'm away.

Do you buy really nice trash cans?

Paint the thing dayglo pink or some other gaudy color that nobody want to have.

Seriously - in my IT department we used to lend out computer mice and had about 50% of them never returned. So we got rid of all the fancyt Microsoft mice and replaced them with tacky off-brand translucent pink (think iMac) mice - and not one was ever stolen - all returned promptly...

I would bet that it's the garbage men...

I would bet that when the gabage men are picking up the trash are just throwing the whole thing in the truck. Have seen them do this before in my area. The trash will be packed too tightly in the can, they shake it a couple of times and if the trash doesn't come out they toss the whole thing in!

out here we cant throw the trash streetside in just bags because it is like $35 if there is an extra bag. and if you dont even put The original receptical out there, they just charge you for every bag extra. Also it is $35 if you cant close the lid of your trash can. But out here all our trashcans look the same. So I would just take a neighbors

I 'lease' my cans from Waste Management. If one is lost or stolen, they bring another.

I would look into it. Trash archeology as I like to call it, is a great way to gather personal info. A little advice. always shred financial and personal documents before throwing them in the trash.

Our cans are all uniform, and are designed to be picked up by the truck itself, it has a big arm that grabs the can, shakes it into an opening up top, then puts the can back. I haven't seen actual *garbagemen* in years =)
