Driving record came up clean but i received a citation

About 7 years ago (still a teenager then) i was pulled over in Washington state for having no registration. The police officer told me my windows were too dark but unfortunately i don't remember if he cited me for my tinted windows.

Today i printed a copy of my DMV records from Washington state and it came up clean. On my police application it asks to list all traffic citations. I want to get it right and be accurate, so where can i get accurate information? The last thing i want to do is leave out information.

I'm guessing it would be a bad idea to leave out this information even if no record can be found.

    Thanks in advanced.

To intentionally leave out info you know to be true is called omission, and yes, it's a bad idea.

Oregon DMV only maintains the last 5 years of your driving record unless there is a felony traffic conviction on it.

Put it down and don't worry about it. Something like that is nothing.

Most of the time when you obtain a copy of a driving record it doesn't list every single ticket you've ever gotten. Sometimes the record only goes back a few years, and other times it will just list moving violations where there were points assessed (which expired registration or tint are not). Law enforcement will be able to see your full history, so just list that you got a ticket. There's no way for you to get a different copy of your driving record than the one you got from the state.

If you were a juvenile, you start over after turning 18, meaning all the teenage stuff is erased from your driving record.

A lot of states erase citations from driving records after a certain amount of years.

A lot of states also do not count equipment violation tickets against someone's driving record.

Your particular case could be any or all of the above.

Still list your ticket on your employment application. If a department finds out you left a ticket off your application oon purpose because you didn't think they'd find out, you're most likely done as an applicant.
