Caught shoplifting. No citation received. Whats gonna happen to me.

I was recently detained at a store for shoplifting 2 items that total about $25. The store called the police. The police came and took my personal info. Id, SSN. I received a Trespass Warning. I signed no paperwork, was given nothing...no citation. Was not taken to the police station. Nothing....what happens now? I don't have a court date ot any information to even call about it. The office said I would receive something in the mail. I am so confused. I have never been arrested for anything in my life. No criminal record. Just a few speeding tickets. Please help!

First off, Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle.

Secondly, I'm moving this to the regular Ask A Cop forum 'cause you posted this is the section where aspiring authors ask questions about their books / stories / screenplays, etc.

Third, if you were told you'd receive something in the mail, I would suggest waiting for something to arrive in the mail. That will most likely tell you what to do more than anyone here on these boards could, especially since we don't know even what state you're in.

A few courts in my neck of the woods issue charges by mail exclusively, unless a physical arrest is made.
