What can I do about my neighbor?

My mom passed away a little over 3 yrs ago and I received her home. Since then I have paid it off and started working on it. My problem is when ever I go to the home the neighbor calls the cops on me. I have quit working on it for a while just because of this. Now I have a friend who wants to rent it so I hired some people to finish cleaning it out and finish working on it. The neighbor once again called the cops because someone was in the house. She told the police that the home was not in my name that is was still in probate and it was condemned. The house is in my name I have the deed in hand, it is out of probate, and was not condemned. Since this happen the other day the lady has once again contacted the county inspector and now there is a condemned sigh on the door. The home is not in bad shape there is no reason for it to be condemned, we were replacing drywall so our friends can move it. The inspector just went on this ladies word, didn't even go in. What can I do about this???

Have you talked to the inspector? Maybe a hundred bucks or so spent on a lawyer to write a letter to them with a cc to the neighbor might be worthwhile.

This really isn't a police matter though.

I have a appt. with the inspector today. I just thought there was something I could do about her always calling the cops if someone goes to the house without a just reason.

Not really. Unless someone is deemed a mental case, there's too much potential liability if we don't respond. Sometimes after several officers get the same BS call, they will notify dispatch to ignore further calls from her regarding this type of incident, but there is nothing you can do on your end. If you're there legally, you have no problem and it's more of a pain to the police than you.

Ok, Thank you verry much. I just met with the inspector and the neighbor had told him the people were moving in that day not that they were just cleaning, so the condemned sigh is getting taken down today and he is informing the police that all is good with the work on the home.

What Can I Do About My Neighbor?

I have my deceased mother's old home in central Minnesota and I would beat the neighbors to the punch. When I go to the house, I call ahead to the sheriff's office and tell them who I am, where I am going, and my cellular telephone number. I tell them to feel free to calll me or stop by, if necessary. I figure that way in case somebody calls, they know ahead of time.

We know almost all of the cops since it is a small town. She calls every single time. She has told them that we were teenagers trying to set the place on fire, that we were breaking in and steeling stuff, all sorts of things like that. We drive the same car every time so the cops know it's us and usually just stop and say hi. This last time tho she went to far by trying to have the place condemned it is just ridiculous that she is doing this. I know she wants to buy the place so I don't know if she thinks that bothering us is going to make us sell or what.
