There is another book out there that was given to my wife by another cop's wife called "I love a cop". I actually ended up reading it and it has some good advice on things to expect.

The emotional survival guide was actually purchased by my department for every officer- it was a considerable investment from the department but I'm guessing two suicides in a couple months pushed them do do SOMETHING.
