    Facebook threat

Yesterday at my grand-daughters birthday party a fight broke out between my two sons and my daughter in law. The police were contacted and we went to the police so my son could fill out a report. We felt it better to leave the area to diffuse the situation. At this point, with tempers being heated, he didn't want him arrested. This didn't stop my other son from joking about it on his FB page with some of the other company from his party but nothing was posted from our end. At no time did my husbamd or myself say anything to her except "hello" when we first arrived. And then later she asked "would you like a cupcake?" About 10 minutes later is when everything erupted upstairs between the 3 of them. Both my son and his wife have violent tempers.
This morning was this post on my FB page
"Just because I'm nice doesn't mean I like you. One day your mouth will run and I'll shove my fist down it... you better watch what you say from this point on!"
This threat was made as 'custom' which she can choose who it is sent to.
My question is "is there anyway to find out, beside me, who this was sent to?"
I want to know if it was directly meant for me.

First off, Grandma, welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle.

Secondly, I would like to inform you that the forum you posted this question in is for Technical Help for the actual Real Police website, not for questions of this nature. I am moving this thread to the regular Ask-A-Cop section where it will be more at home and get more responses.

Thirdly, to answer your question, I don't believe there will be any easy way to figure out who that post was sent to. You'd have to contact FaceBook, and they most likely won't release that info without some type of warrant or other legal paperwork. And since threats on FaceBook don't meet the "imminent" factor in most states' statutes, chances of a law enforcement agency taking it as a serious threat and thereby doing a full blown investigation are very slim.

Also, you have not told us what state this happened in. My answer above is based on Florida law. Whenever I get a call about threats and the reporting person says "FaceBook," I know it's not going anywhere.

In Oregon, there is nothing the authorities can do. That wouldn't constitute a viable threat suitable for prosecution. I doubt FB will help you, but you can ask. You might talk to your sons about it. If you can't, then forget it. Sounds like a lot of people in your family need to grow up

They got into a fight during the grandchild's birthday party!?

I think you need to spend more energy providing life lessons on maturity and civility with your kids than worrying about BS FB crap.

I find this behavior by alleged adults absolutely disgusting.

    Who consoled the grandkid?
