told i was being charged with disorderly conduct, did not receive a ticket

I had some people over to last weekend and it ended up turning into a party and getting out of control. A long story short the police showed up, everyone was of age and we were very respectful and made everyone leave immediately. I was told that I and 3 of my housemates were being cited with disorderly conduct, however none of us were asked to sign anything nor did we receive tickets, the officers simply took down our information and told us it would come in the mail. My question is in regards to whether this is just a scare tactic or if we are actually going to receive tickets in the mail. It seems that if we were really being cited the officers would have given us tickets. Also i checked the police activity records for my city and we aren't on there. I live in Washington State if that makes a difference.

In PA , I can issue DC tickets or file them in the mail.

Being respectful probably saved you a night in the lockup.

Stop having out of control parties and you won't get arrested.

Here officers can arrest, cite on the spot, or later charge someone with disorderly conduct. I would make sure to check your mail regularly.

If I'm going to charge someone for disorderly conduct, their being arrested and taken to jail for the night. As was said, you being respectful and shutting it down when told probably saved your rear's.

Thanks for all the advice, we will never have a loud party again. Is there a reason an officer would issue a ticket through the mail rather than writing them in person? I was under the impression that it needed to be signed by me stating that i understand the charges. The fact that I am not on the police activity record for that night points towards the possibility that they were just trying to scare us and didn't actually file charges.
