    Muggings

I was just wondering what a person would be charged with if they mugged someone? Im not planning to mug anyone or anything. Im just asking bc last week my MGR, mom was mugged in broad day light. Shes an older lady about 80ish. Would he be charged with robbery or something else?

Would you think its a smart idea to carry some mace or something else with me since I live in a bad area and have to walk to work since I dont have a car and live almost 3 miles away from my job?

You all stay safe out there!!

The statutes vary from state to state. In Oregon, it would be robbery III, a class C felony unless a weapon was used or there were two assailants. Then it would be robbery II. a class B felony.

Pepper spray would be okay if you're comfortable enough to use it. If you're threatened with a weapon, give up the money, you can always get more. Money isn't worth dying for.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

    80 year old woman?

In this great state, at a minimum it'd be robbery (armed or unarmed, depending obv on the weapon) and A&B on an elderly person.

Thank you guys, I was just curious.

Yes she is 80. She said he asked her for directions to pizza hut, then she started to turn to point the direction and BAM. She said he drug her and he threw her cane. The only reason I know this is I was at work the day it happened and my mgr sent me down to where it happened to look for her cane. The poor lady is all bruised and banged up.

That would be robbery (strong armed). If he threatened use of a weapon or displayed a weapon, it would be armed robbery.

Robbery in PA is a theft that involves ANY amount of force against another person. So a pickpocket is a robbery because force was used to pull the wallet out of the victims back pocket.

I always enjoy the ones that shoplift, then fight or pull a weapon on the store personnel when they attempt to stop the suspect from stealing. You just turned misdemeanor shoplifting into felony Strongarm or Armed Robbery, idiot.
