    I'm a minor and he's an adult?

Ok, so this is a long story, but I'll shorten it. There is this guy that I really like, he is about To turn 20 and I am about to turn 17. We met when he was a senior and I was a freshmen. We have been best friends for about 2.5 years and my parents really like him but they think he is too old and because it's illegal. But is okay to date if my parents give consent. and nothing sexual occurs? I really like him and it's getting harder to hold back my feeling and he is also having a hard time with it too and says that his feeling have grown stronger for me and he can't stand being just friends anymore because it is getting too hard. He told me that he has fallen in love with me and I feel the same for him. I know he is not some. creep because if had wanted anything he would not have stuck around this long. I live in Illinois and the legal age of consent is 17. I really would like to date this guy because I have grown to love him. Please tell me your opinions on this. I would appricate it.

There are laws against sexual contact, not dating. That said, given how your post reads I have no doubt that one would follow another, in which case he might end up in a whole heap of trouble, depending on your state and its particular legislation. You're 17, and you can't wait less than a year...?

But no, "dating" is not illegal.

Am I missing something? If you are about to turn 17 and the age of consent in Illinois is 17, what are you concerned about?

In Connecticut, as long as you are over 16 it would not be illegal unless the person you had sex with was in a position of authority over you, such as a teacher or coach.

I am amazed that you feel that you have to take your relationship to the next level just to keep him. I realize it is not the norm but there are a lot of people who maintain and relationship, kiss hug etc without taking the relationship to the next level until the wedding night.
Another thing to consider is if either of you are in or plan on going to college. If that happens, staying honest to each other will become almost impossible, the trust will start to fade.
Even though legally you are considered an adult at 17 years of age, if your parents have an issue with the "next level" it can create a world of issues for you and your boyfriend.
