I was filling out a police department app and came across the undetected crime section and got when I was 16 my friend and I stole 2 6 packs of coca cola out of his neighbors garage. I am now almost 21 and I realize that was a stupid decision but how badly will that hurt me because it is a felony in NY.
Thanks,
D

Probably not that much. I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, putting it on your app will show that you're at least being honest about that! Good luck.

Yeah but thats a felony. Wouldn't it be much more frowned upon than drug use or even domestic violence a high misdemeanor? Not to mention the domestic violence is a disqualifier
Don't overanalyze it. Taking some soda out of a garage, while technically possibly a felony, is a lot different from forcibly entering a stranger's house and stealing electronics, money, guns, etc.

It isn't something that you should sweat over. Put it on your application and when your BI asks about it, give an honest mature answer to show that you realize your mistake and accept responsibility for it.
