HOWARD, Wis. - A man and his wife ducked behind a refrigerator when bullets began exploding in their oven, authorities say.

Capt. Craig Kohlbeck of the Brown County Sheriff's Department said the husband had put the ammunition and three handguns in the oven before the couple left on a vacation.

He told officers he thought the items would be safe there in case someone broke into the home while they were away.

After returning from their trip Tuesday, the wife turned on the oven to prepare dinner and the bullets ignited, Kohlbeck said.

No one was hurt.

God forbid the genius buy a frickin' safe to store stuff in. They have locks and don't heat up and ignite your ammo.

An autopsy concluded that the infant's death was not the result of foul play, Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. said.

Foul play, no. Fool play, yes. It's sad that the little kid was the one to get killed though..... :(

Why would they put the gun in the stove to "get it out of the way"??????? I guess there's no logical explanation when your dealing with stupidity like this. :rolleyes:

Sorry about the caps but yes I am yelling. I know people can be stupid but you have got to be kidding me!

I was going to put "Here's your sign!" at the end when I posted that first headline, but I think all the comments along with the additional headline that was added about the baby being killed because of 'stupidity' says it all.

Maybe something like that should be put in a questionnare(sp) when people buy a gun. Like: do you have an appropriate/safe place to put this gun. Or maybe even a multiple choice question regarding placing the gun with one of the choices being a/b/c in the oven. You know, I'm thinking some people would check off that one.

I think some people forgot to get in line when brains were handed out. :rolleyes:
