I was wondering about all those Norm posts demanding more gun control and the banning of wheel guns.

I didn't get that one but I got one stating I had a traffic ticket I needed to pay from NY state dated a few days ago for speeding. I haven't been to NY since 2003! Said ticket was issued Nov. 5th! Must be my evil twin at work again! Just another scam. Did have PayPal tell me someone was trying to access my account a couple weeks ago. Does that count? LOL!

As soon as that Nigerian prince transfers the money to my account, I'm dumping all you guys and getting a better class of friends!!!!

Someone around here has been calling cell phones and saying they were from Wells Fargo Bank and you needed to give them your account info because someone was trying to access your account! LOL. I don't even have an account with them and I got that call.....

There's some good ones out there though. I got an email once from my bank (allegedly) that had a link that took you to a page that was the exact replica of the bank's real main page. The email itself looked legit too, using the logos and everything. I forget what they were asking for but a red flag was immediately raised when I read it. I think they were asking info that they would already have. I clicked the link just to investigate further and the "main" page was brought up but once I hovered the cursor over a few of the links it was obvious it was not a legit email.

I turned it in to the real bank's internet fraud division or whatever they call it.

Yeah, all are pretty obvious if you pay attention and aren't greedy. That's one reason I never wanted to work fraud. The cases are too complicated for the loss and too many of the victims are just stupid.

I gave the generous prince your info a few months ago when he asked if I knew anyone else of good moral character. Glad to see he reached out to you!

By the way, I'm still waiting on the money to be transferred to my account. Let me know when you get yours and I will double check on mine.

Sometimes the ruling royalty gets busy with more important things. We should be patient.

I got a call around 1 AM from what was allegedly my bank in early September. I can't remember the message exactly, but it stated that due to suspicious activity on my account they deactivated my debit card. In order to reactivate my debit card, I had to enter my entire debit card number (according to the automated message).

Knew it was a scam right away, hung up. I wished it wasn't an automated call...I was already cranky for some reason, so that person would have received an earful. :toetap05:

Last month, too, I was staying with some friends at my university for the weekend...one of my friend's roommates had apparently lost her Social Security card and was receiving e-mails about credit cards being registered in her name and information. She contacted the companies, but didn't get anything resolved.

Well, my friend tried to aid this girl by calling her dad (who is a police officer) to ask for advice. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) to apply for a replacement Social Security card via the Social Security Administration's website. The girl went to a website which purported to do just that...and it turned out the website was a fraud. She not only entered her personal information but also PAID using her debit card to submit this fake form.

I haven't heard anything about it since, though. It's sad that she's going to probably have to deal with that for the rest of her life--even sadder that people can be that careless and naive.

That was the call I got. I knew it was a scam because I don't even have an account with that bank. I did call my 88 year old father in law who does. He would have been likely to have followed the instructions.

No one has called me asking for my information or bank accounts... This means one of two things...

1) They are scared of me.

2) I'm so broke even the scammers LOL when they had the thought of contacting me.

I haven't received an e-mail like that from here, but I have from other forums in the past. Usually it is just a case of people forgetting their usernames or typing in the wrong username on accident. Accidents do happen sometimes, you know!
