Maybe someone here has some advice for me. Earlier this week I had an interview for Parole Agent 1 in Philadelphia. Today HR called me and said that I was a recommended candidate for the position and that my info is being forwarded for a background investigation. That's all and good right? Well, I'm supposed to be starting another new job in Lebanon, PA on Monday. So my question is this: Does anybody know how long the process takes to do the background check? I also have to be fingerprinted at some point too. I don't want to start training in my new job at Lebanon just to have to quit the next week. They didn't say I had an offer pending the background check, they just said there were going to do one. So should I just go to Lebanon on Monday then wait n see what happens?

Background checks for agencies in my area can take six months or more. I wouldn't give up the bird in the hand until I had a firm offer/start date for the Parole Agent position.

Thanks for the advice! My mother just told me that when they do background checks at her office that they take a few weeks at a minimum. I think I will show up for my 1st day on Monday and take it from there. thanks again :)
