ADAMS COUNTY (WFXS) -- An Adams County Jail sergeant has been charged for having sex with an inmate.

Dawn Bradshaw, 41, appeared in court Monday. Investigators say between September and October 2010, Bradshaw took an inmate out of his cell to the law library, where they had sex.

Bradshaw is out of jail on a $5,000 signature bond. A judge ordered her to have no contact with the victim.

Bradshaw's next court date is scheduled for October.

Maybe there's more safeguards when it comes to male to female contact, I dunno. For a while I dated a female corrections officer here and she told me that periodically some chubby female would get involved with an inmate. When I worked the jail in NC only female officers were allowed to deal with female inmates due to past actions by the male officers with female inmates. I was fine with it as the female officers told us the female inmates were needy as hell (imagine that).

I think females only deal with female inmates here too, but for some reason they let females supervise male inmates. Apparently we have some needy female corrections officers and we know there are smooth talking male crooks.

I blame the female supervisors's supervisor. Once he sees any kind of flirting or suspcious behavior, he needs to transfer the inmate to the biggest gayest inmate in the cell block. Make him mad too by taking out his former consensual slap and tickle cellmate. Once it gets around that even flirting with the female guard leads to lots rapey rape time with bubba, it will stop.

Way, way too many hustlers and not nearly enough big gay inmates. And the problem isn't the inmates, they do what they do. It's the female guards and they can be sneaky about it.

And, of course, unless the supervisor is another female, attempts at disciplinary action will be countered with claims of discrimination / sexual harassment on the part of the female guard...

The cool part is going to be when the inmate sues the County for failing to protect him from the "sexual assault" by staff while he was in custody.

The S.O. here has very high standard for hiring its LE deputies, but it has never appeared to me that the same can be said for their corrections people. I've met a number that I wouldn't want as next door neighbors, if you get my drift.

A few years ago we had a cop here that took a female inmate out for "locating areas of drug traffiking" I think that was the term....well he was taking her out and boinking her routinely. I knew this officer's wife quite well and he did seem to have a problem keeping his gun holstered. So, he was caught....lost a twenty year career. It was really pretty sad.

Sounds like a typical "thinking with the wrong head" story...

When I was a very young cop, I was assigned to drugs for a little while and took a female informant out so she could make some controlled buys. We had barely driven away and she asked, "Are we going to have sex?" I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was thinking, "Oh Boy! Oh Boy!", but I also took a moment to think it out to various possible conclusions and took her back right away. I never met another female snitch again without someone with me. Not just only because it just looked better, I didn't even want to be tempted again.:nono:

Gotta give you credit for that one. Not a LEO, but I would have just said 'No' and not given it another thought and did the buys. Bringing her back right away would have been one of those "In hindsight..." moments for me. Probably a real short career. lol.

I learned long ago, Mike that if I entertain a bad idea very long, I'm more and more likely to follow through. Not an admirable trait, but a man needs to know his limitations.....
