Hi guys! I'm a police explorer with my local city, but I plan on working for my county once I get to be 21. Here is my question what do you carry in your patrol car? I'd love to patrol the north part where i live. It has pretty nice roads and to give you an idea its pretty nice has lots of newer houses and chrisoak fence's.Also subdivisons with lakes, there for there is lots of burglary's,theft, domestic disputes etc. Lot's of times there's only one deputy in the area so heres what I'm thinking?
AR-15 patrol rifle
2 extra pairs of cuffs on spotlight handle.
patrol bag with
flexcuffs
extra streamlight LED flashlight
Maglight LED flashlight
a few more cans of OC spray
Some extra AR-15 and pistol mags
Small ICEchest with water
what all do you carry?
Someting else I've noticed on Ride alongs is sometimes offices chase people into mud and water so maybe spare uniform, boots, and socks?
Thank you for any feed back! Sorry if this is in the wrong section but it involved what to keep in a police car.

If one can of OC spray isn't enough, two isn't going to help you. And I don't know anyone who carries spare boots or uniform in their car. If you get that dirty, just go back to the station/substation/home and change.
A few bottles of water aren't a bad idea, and extra mags and flashlights never hurt anyone. I have a few extra pairs of handcuffs that I carry, but rarely need more than two (backup is readily available to me, though...)
If I had a patrol car, I would carry:
12-gauge auto-loader
.45 long slide, with laser sighting
Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range
Uzi nine millimeter
They have an austrian sound to them and all are ideal for home defense.
Not a LEO though. LEO's carry a lot more forms, tickets, riot helmets and shield, high vis traffic vest, rain gear and an extra hat just to be safe. Hallagan (sp?) tool and phone books are optional.

I agree with Greg on this one. You say "when I turn 21 I am going to get hired" average hiring age (at least in my area) is 26-28 years old. I am currently 21 and know that I will not be getting hired in my area for at least a couple years. Worry about school, homework, and community service for now and getting a decent work history built up for when you do start applying.
Most of what you can carry will be dictated by the Chief.
I think you should focus on not getting into trouble , not hanging out with those that do , doing well in school , considering whether college or military is going to be your best route of travel and listening more than speaking.
