lol I said the same EXACT thing when I turned 30...I've come to the conclusion it just gets better when you turn 30 :) I was depressed at first but honestly this has been one of the best years of my life by far..your more settled in your life for some reason..

I'm not burning it up. My department had an odd retirement plan where we didn't pay into SSA. I get a couple of hundred a month based on what I made while in the Army, which wasn't much. Of that, the take home is less than a hundred after they take out Medicare premiums.

You can thank LBJ and the Democrats for that. The money was going into a fund, but as soon as my generation started putting big bucks in, they dissolved it and made it pay as you go. From then until recently, the government was bringing in a lot more than they were sending out. Who would have thought that we would be retiring after they spent all of our money?

I gave myself until thirty to go full time and I'm sticking by it. Sometimes I wonder if I will even give it that long.

As for back pains I do have some pretty consitent lower back pain. I can only assume it is duty belt related because it never goes away.

Probably. That and stress. I used to have minor back pain a lot until I left uniform.
