Brandon,
Welcome to the board! Meetings will often involve discussion of upcoming events and administrative topics (i.e. promotions, regulations, etc). After the admin is done there is usually a training topic that will be covered that day (i.e. traffic stops, building searches, first aid, etc). My main advice for you is to take part in anything they will let you (each post has a different police involving new members and what they can or can not do). By being involved and not just sitting there you are showing that you are truly interested in the program and not just doing it because it will make you feel cool. Now don't harass them by asking "Can I do that?" every five seconds, but if the opportunity presents itself take advantage of it. Also keep in mind that just because you were invited to a meeting doesn't mean you are automatically accepted into the post. In many cases the first meeting a new explorer attends is like an interview of sorts, so treat it as such. Many posts will have the current explorers vote on if they want you in the post based off of your first meeting.

I hope this is helpful, and best of luck to you!

Worst thing that'll happen is they duct tape you to the heavy bag and give the other Explorers foam batons to practice on a "live suspect".
