Has anyone made the swap from police officer to Loss Prevention or another private sector job? What kind of job did you take? I've been a police officer for a few years, and I am tired of working out in the heat and dealing with the same idiots all the time. I worked in Loss Prevention for several years, and my old office setting has looked pretty appealing lately. I do have a bachelors degree.
I think the main thing I would miss is having actual arrest powers instead of summoning the police and being able to take my gun everywhere (including where no gun signs are displayed). I am currently looking for District Loss Prevention or investigative positions (check fraud, auditing, cash loss, etc). There's also more money in the private sector. Will I regret making the swap?
LPLEO , welcome to RP.
We have a rule here that if your user name implies or indicates that you are a member of Law Enforcement that you must go through the verification process. Please check out the info posted below.
During initial registration, user names that imply that you are a police officer, such as - "Officer Jones," "Sgt Smith," etc. are not permitted. Once an Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) member is verified, they can request that their user name be updated. This prevents non LEO members from presenting themselves as LEO members.
LEO Verification Process:

NOTE:
Claiming to be a law enforcement officer (LEO) either in your posts, in the choice of username you pick, information in your profile, via private message to others, or by any other communication means on this site is strictly prohibited. Claiming to be a LEO when you are not employed as a sworn LEO who meets the verification requirements listed above will result in your account being banned, and future access to this site being cancelled. Also, where appropriate, those impersonating LEOs will have their account information (to include IP address(es)) forwarded to law enforcement authorities if warranted
Please consider going through this or your current user name will have to be banned.

There's not more money in the private sector around here. A few guys I worked with who were in fraud went to work for banks and they made less money and worked longer hours. I know loss prevention people make a lot less than we do.
Thanks for the heads up.
I just wanted to post this thread and move on. I'm not going to stick around with this username. I guess go ahead and ban it if you have to.

Not a very professional way to respond to folks, but the choice was yours.
