Just picked up my first pair of Vibram Five Fingers (KS0's) in the mail this weekend and used them for the first time last night. They definitely give a unique feel to your workouts, feels much more natural in my opinion then my usual running shoes. I'm looking forward to my leg workout tomorrow with the Vibram's for sure and soon I'll be working up to running with them.

Anyone else have a pair of Vibram Five Fingers? What are your thoughts on them?

I don't think I could use them for running...makes my feet hurt thinking about it BUT they would make fantastic scalloping shoes and I'm going the end of this month for four days..... can you only order them online?

You can also aquire them at stores. Check out their website to find a store near you.

Duh :) that makes sense I guess I should have thought about that huh. lol ..I did go to the website all the ones I liked was 80$ I can't see spending 80$ on shoes to wear in the boat... hoping they are at least 50$ in the store and even that is kind of steep..I do think they would be more flexible on my feet though for walking underwater..

I know a runner who got a stress fracture on their shin from running in Vibrams. Besides the usual getting acclimated to the shoes, the lack of support can be really bad to the foot.

That being said, with my size 16 wide feet, I wish I could try them but I'll stick to my New Balance's for running. :biggrin5:

It's the running technique that caused the stress fracture. If you are going to run in vibrams (or barefoot, for that matter), you need to follow the Pose Running technique. It is a much more effective, natural running technique that causes a lot less jarring to the body. Rather than casting your feet out in front of you and absorbing a ton of force (and impacting a lot of force, contrary to the path of motion), your feet barely pass your midline and tend to do more "pushing". Google "pose" running" and you will get a far better description than what I can provide. :)

I wear mine for crossfitting. I'm embarrassed to stop for milk @ the gas station on the way home. No matter how functional they are, they do look pretty silly. :)

I bought a pair back in early April, I love 'em! In fact the only time I've even bothered with my running shoes was for my last FIT test...end of May. Now I have not done any runs longer than a mile and a half to two miles in them. The two miles can be a hard enough workout on my cavs; and to be honest once the snow flies up here in the mitten, I'll probably switch back to my running shoes.

Embarrassed?! You?? Imagine THAT...
Actually, he picks on a friend who wore his vibrams to the bar one time.

p.s. No, I don't wear mine out in public either. :)

BIG must be immune to this...how do you say...embarrassment. BIG wears his in public all the time & receives nothing but compliments. It must be a BIG SEXY thang.

Great shoes, I use mine to go trail running. Strap on a weighted vest and a camel back and take off. They actually reduce injuries, you are less likely to use your feet as mindless hunks of meat. Your stride and where you place your feet becomes more deliberate and therefore reduces your chances of injury. They also strengthen you Achilles tendon and work a different sub set of muscles in your calf.

They seem super thin though I could not imagine wearing them on a trail run ouch!

I am thinking about purchasing them for trail running. I have heard different results from my running group concerning running on asphalt.
