I am currently an English teacher in France. I am writing a detective story and I was wondering if you could answer me a couple of questions. I don't want to write wrong things about the Police so that's why I am writing to you. 1. Who can investigate when a child has been abducted? When do you send an alert? What are the different steps when a child has been reported missing.

Are you writing a detective story taking place in the U.S. or France (or somewhere else)? Reason being is the answer to your question will be very different, and I'm not sure if we have any French LEOs here.
