Probably shouldn't have converted it to "low rider." Either that or Secret Service is going to need a new diet plan. :)

I suspect being trapped in narrow gate is not the place agents want to find the protectee in. The driver got out too which is very surprising if potus is in the backseat.

Codename 'smart alec': British police label Obama with 'mildly offensive' Punjabi word for visit to UK

More than one person has wanted to call Barack Obama a 'smart alec', and now British police will get the chance to do so without getting reprimanded.
That's because Scotland Yard has tapped the codename 'Chalaque' to refer to the U.S. president for security reasons during his upcoming state visit to the United Kingdom May 24-26.
Indarjit Singh, a Punjabi speaker in the UK who is director of the Network of Sikh Organisations, told the Sunday Times the word 'is sometimes used when we want to denigrate someone who we think is too clever for their own good'.

Another Punjabi speaker told the paper the word Chalaque is 'not considered rude', but could be 'mildly offensive'.
It is also said to mean 'cheeky, crafty and cunning'.
With his leadership of the recent successful raid on Osama bin Laden's compound, the president certainly showed himself to be the latter two.

Scotland Yard insiders told the Sunday Times that their codewords are 'randomly generated by computer', but the paper wondered why officials decided to stick with them, when they could have simply had another word selected that would be less provocative.

Still, that's not the kind of thing that normally rattles Obama, who recently told reporters he keeps calm under pressure by taking some time off for 'golf, laughter and travel'.
Barack and Michelle Obama will be guests of Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace this week.

The president will also speak to Parliament, probably on terrorism and ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The First Couple is also invited to the prime minister's house, where Mrs Obama and Samantha Cameron, wife of British leader David Cameron, will host a barbecue for British and American military vets.
The men will 'wear aprons to serve burgers and sausages' writes the Sunday Times.
Security will be heavy throughout the visit, as militants around the world have threatened reprisals for the recent killing of Osama bin Laden.
The Obamas will travel in a heavily armoured limousine called 'The Beast'.
When they visit the queen, they are told not to turn their back on her, and to finish enjoying any snacks or tea as soon as the queen takes her last bite.

My already high regard for UK police just went up!

I guess the Sunday Times didn't realize how many innocent words they had to throw away until the computer randomly spit out 'Chalaque'.

Does Barak rhyme with Chalaque? 'Barak the Chalaque'?

Sad think is, that's something that can easily be overlooked in the scheme of things. But that doesn't imply forgiveness though.

Fed agencies can't have foreign made cars unless you are IRS or U.S. Marshals, who use funds they seized to buy them, The US G funds can only buy American made cars.....I am betting a the standard Impala, Charger, Focus, or if really lucky, Explorer or Expedition.

The President is killing LE fleet with "hybrids" and has no clue his standards don't allow LE equipment to be hooked up, give the room needed or prove

White House: No more full-size vehicles unless essential

David Shepardson/ Detroit News Washington Bureau

President Barack Obama has an order for federal agencies: No more driving full-size sedans unless it is absolutely necessary.
That means fewer Chevrolet Impalas and more Cruzes. Fewer Ford Taurus sedans and more Ford Fiestas.
In an order to agencies today, Obama said government agencies should limit "optional equipment to what is essential to meet agency mission, and be midsize or smaller sedans, except where larger sedans are essential to the agency mission."
Within six months, "any executive fleet vehicles that are larger than a midsize sedan or do not comply with alternative fueled vehicle requirements must be disclosed on agency websites," the order said.
It is part of Obama's plan to make the 600,000-vehicle federal fleet smaller and more fuel efficient. He wants most federal vehicles purchased in 2015 to be advanced technology vehicles.
But the rules allow agencies to exempt "vehicles used for law enforcement, protective, emergency response or military tactical operations."
That means cabinet secretaries and other government officials who are ferried around in full-size SUVs won't have to shift into smaller vehicles like other government workers.
The policy also allows agencies to buy vehicles that run on E85 ethanol — a fuel mixture that is 85 percent ethanol — to count as advanced technology vehicles even if they never use the biofuel.
But Obama's three-page order says "alternative fueled vehicles must, as soon as practicable, be located in proximity to fueling stations with available alternative fuels, and be operated on the alternative fuel."

I know a certain FBI SA that drives a Prius as his takehome G ride because the commute to manhattan kinda sucks without that special lane. it think it was seized car though.

And yes, imposing green through social engineering is bad idea. Especially if they disregard function. The thing that really annoys me is the suspension of safety regulations to get cars like the E car on the market here. Either do away with those regs or enforce them, but don't just waive them because a specific car appeals to green whim of politicians.

I bet if Obama was in a Prius, it would have made it over that bump. If not, the walking USSS agents could have lifted it over.

As for police cars, Europe hsasmaller ones. I am wondering if they have less equipment? Not all police cars will need a usuable passenger seat. Keep a few for when passenger seats are needed but if the bulk of the work is single officer, put the equipment in the passenger seat. Even in the larger sedans, it would be easiesr to repair and access if it was in passenger seat.

My pet peeve is more of the fire vehicles. Most of their calls here are medical and vehicle wrecks. They do need the six firefighter/EMTs. The don't need the giant firetruck rolling on each call. I think it would be more efficient to have two vehicles for them: equipment trucks with two man crews, an and then separate tanker truck with driver. It has to be more efficient to keep that giant firetruck at the station house on calls where they only need men and equipment. On a fire send three equipment trucks (F150 size) and 1 tanker truck. THat's seven firefighters. On smaller EMT calls just send one two man crew (Like Gage and Desoto on Emergency51!). No reason to roll that 6 man behemoth firetruck on every single call as that's what they do here. House fire=Giant Fire Truck. 911 minor medical = Giant Fire Truck. It's the ultimate hammer and everything looks like a nail.
