To some people I am sure this will simply confirm my "geek-ness", but...

I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons since the early 1980's. I never really got into any of the computer versions until Neverwinter Nights a few years ago, but I virtually never played that online.

Recently I've started playing DDO and I am hooked. Any other dedicated dungeon crawlers out there?

Anyone old enough to remember when "Elf" was a class, not a race? lol...

I absolutely remember the original red box D&D. That was before it was "Advanced" Dungeons and Dragons. I'm not familiar with DDO, however. Is it an MMO like World of Warcraft?

You probably don't read xkcd (http://xkcd.com/), either...

*sigh*

DDO is "Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited". It is very much like pencil & paper D&D, but with some differences. So far I am thoroughly enjoying it. It is virtually impossible to get together an actual group to play tabletop D&D, so playing online is a tremendous boon to me.

Do you guys remove your pocket protectors when playing?

You wouldn't say that to my 9th level archmage evoker. His motto is, "Build a man a fire and he will be warm for a few hours. Hit him with a maximized, heightened fireball and he will be warm for the rest of his life."

LOL, I don't think I've even thought about D&D since the early '80s. I wonder if I searched my parents house if I would still find all the books with creatures and the multi-sided dice?
