It'd be issued to him after his academy at the new department.

If a detective moved from one department to another it does not mean that he would automatically be a detective in that other department. The rank of Detective, in most major departments, is supposed to be a earned promotion and usually at the discretion of the Chief or Police Commissioner. If that helps.

Thanks for the great feedback. I always thought it was a one size fits all system.

michiganstud: a TV pilot means it's the first script of a TV series. It serves as a "Bible" or guide for the rest of the series. Spec means it hasn't been picked up yet. Each year has a "season" where pilots are read by network and cable execs and chosen, sometimes with actors and/or producers attached.

Gotcha. Feel free to posts questions here, that's what this sub-forum is intended for, but you may find some are more willing to engage in the dialog if they know what they're dialoging about (i.e. it would help if you gave us some background on who you are, what you're writing, and then fire off with whatever questions you need clarification on). Cheers.
