When a suspect with injuries is brought into booking and there are injuries on him possibly from a fight with a policeman, will the superiors be contacted?

No, we just document the injuries in the report.
We would photograph them. If SERIOUS , then I would make a call.
We would photograph him and the officers injuries.
Possibly even shoot some video.
Juries love photos/videos of stupid criminals.

At my department, if we're fighting, the on duty supervisor is usually rolling to the call anyways. We photographs the injuries, document them in the report, and have a special form (Response to aggression or RTA form) which is filled out with details specifically about the force used, which goes with the report.
