BPD is a good job, just be prepared to work...very busy department.
Also you should consider MSP, they offer a 4 day program also for out of state people. Maryland State Police (http://www.mdsp.org)
All the counties in MD are also pretty good.

Thanks for the help buddy!! Yes I can see that they are lol. I have been looking at the baltimore sun and everyday there are murders and shootings basically. You work there? It's a good time to go down because they want to hire 250 cops this year alone. There is no oral board so thats a major relief. Also i heard that the recruits do the field training during the academy not after. I also heard that Baltimore pd has a high turnover rate.God Bless
You may see the " no oral board " as a blessing , I see it as the opposite. Prospective police officers need to be tested in mulitple ways to weed out those who want to do the job but really aren't suited.
DO you want to work with someone who really shouldn't be there ?

I know a lot of guys stay w/ BPD about 2-3 year then bounce to Harford, Howard, AA CO, MDTA, etc for a better quality of life...Balt Co doesn't take laterals...same w. MSP

That says a lot and I would heed that as a warning....... You can also bet that if that many people are leaving, there are a lot staying there that hate it. Not too many things worse than working in a police department where the morale is low.

Hey guys I went down this weekend for the two day expedited hiring event. I passed the written, pat and I took the written physch exam. I also did the preliminary interview. The next three steps will be the oral phych exam, polygraph and medical evaluation. There is no oral board so thats why I did not include that. I am just waiting for a call back from Baltimore PD and If I get the call I will go on. The lady officer who gave us the exam said If we don't make it into the next class we will be in the one after it!

I would call them, but if they already have copies, they likely don't need them again.
Thanks, I will call they are just so hard to get in contact with.
Hopefully everything goes well.
Hello everyone...currently I am active duty military and I'm gettin ready to seperate in about a year. I am seeking a career in law enforcement and am willing to go just about anywhere to make it happen. I know BPD hires often and was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a good place to apply or not? Thanks in advance for any input you all may have.

They hire often, therefore it is a good place to apply if you want a job. It's also a place where you can get a lot of experience quickly, and due to high turnover you can get into specialized units more rapidly than most agencies. I am not terribly impressed with what I've heard about their academy or administration, however... and there is a reason for turnover.

milkem, first off, Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle.
Secondly, you have decided to make your very first post in a thread that's almost a year and a half old. That is considered bad form here at RP. I'm going to close this one for now, and if you have a question or more information on a subject and the thread has been dormant (quiet) for a good long time like a year or more, please start a new thread for your question or info, okay?
Thanks for your understanding!
