Hey all bran new here...did a bit of research but read and hear a million different things. I took a computerized test in May of 2010. exam #0311 and scored a 94 list #3xx. Couple people telling me theres a class in maybe july or august i have a shot at and others tell me its too soon i might have to wait another year. They said my three hundreds list number was good and with it i could be in the next academy or prob def the following considering they take 300-1000 people per academy or something. My current only problem is college credits...I have 8 currently and i had 0 two weeks ago so the FEMA courses help a lot...think i can bang out around 40-45 in 3 months or so and the rest school or clep tests. Concerned i might hear from nypd soon and i wont have enough credits...if i dont will they hold spot for next academy or DQ me right away. thanks

Dave-
Welcome aboard!
I have no idea how the NYPD works, but several other members who do are bound to be along shortly.
I think that generating 45 college credits in a 2-3 months is probably not going to happen, though.
If you took the test in May of 2010, why did you wait until NOW to start working on the college credit thing? I know that isn't a new NYPD requirement...

Hi thanks for the welcome :) As far as the credits go there is a program called FEMA who offers free credits to do online...open book and each worth 1 college credit and can do 1 a day if you work hard so it is possible to get those credits in that amount of time...technically you can do 40 credits in 40 days :P they dont count towards a degree of any kind but they are accepted by the NYPD. I do not have a good answer to why i waited lol. I figured i took the test in may and i could slowly get credits and it would be a while before i heard anything...basically procrastination and now its almost been a year since test and im worried so now im rushing to get it done lol 25 years old with plenty of regrets and trying to get my *** in gear and id like to be in and part of the NYPD by the time im at least 26-27...shoulda had a career by now! lol
