A resent thread by dragonlady, Got me thinking of the pet's who have gone to a better land.
I'm sure we've all lost a mate or two...http://aussiegoatmates.freeforums.org/images/smilies/sick0004.gif

There 5 who I really miss.....(being on a farm often means you have quite a few animals & lose them too)
Katie, was a chihuahua bitsa who I got when I was 8, I had for 4 years...when she was hit...farm accident.

Husky breed unknown...we had for 8 years....when he was hit by a maniac truck driver on our normally quiet dirt road.... Dad saw it happen and bore it 2 days before he could tell us, they were very close... I put a few words together about him,
That Was Our Husky Dog
He was the best friend and mate anyone could have.
Always there and ready to share in anything that was going on,
Weather it was right or wrong he was there,
Never did he make a song, even when he was a-wronged.
That was our Husky Dog
Not much was known about his breed, golden head, white tummy,
Black back and flanks, But what is breed and color, when your smart?
Sleep in the shade; sleep in the sun and all-ways ready for lots of fun.
And anyone just you dare to come in here
And you'll soon find that you have me to fear
It was our Husky Dog
Never more to race the farm.
Never more to chase the hawk.
It was our Husky Dog
Never had he known a drop of shame
Never was he known by any type of fame
Now all that’s left is what memory’s can frame
Just one step unjudged and a-miss...
Sent him on to un-known Bliss...
That was our Husky Dog

Zip & Jasper & Trixie we lost these three dogs within 4 months of each other....(very hard to take)
Zip was a 12 yo Healer/Kelpie/Border Collie. had been an excellent working dog, I guess we knew it was coming, she was going slightly deaf, and had a tendency to sneak down the road to clean up dead animals....(we had a cattle feed lot near by) must not have heard the car, she made it home. but no further....

Jasper was an 18month old Maremma, a more beautiful Maremma in looks & nature I have never dealt with before....too good to live, something happened to him not sure what, he got real sick so we took him to the vet, who sent him home with antibiotics, we lost him the next day.... (we lost zip & jasper within a week of each other...ugh)

And then trixie, another beaut dog, My first border collie, got her when I was 10,
she couldn't obviously handle losing her 3 best mates, for she just went downhill from then on...we ended up putting her down eventually as she was obviously miserable....
