Hello! This is a bit of a long story but I want to start from the begining to give you a total understanding of what is going on here.
My husband, 3 kids and I moved into our home 2 years ago. We have 5 neighbors. 1 of them are snow birds (we live in AZ) and are rarely home but we get along with them just fine when they are here. Another neighbor does not live in their home - they are an elderly couple and are now living in town (we live outside the city) and trying to sell their home. No problems with them - we have even done odd jobs for them around their home that they paid us for. The neighbors behind us are very kind and my husband has helped to jump start her car when she needed to pick her husband up from the airport. The other 2 neighbors are sisters. Their brother-in-law and other sister own their property and live down the street. These ladies live in separate house but next door to us and eachother. They are probably in their 40s-50s. One of them - whom we call the Underwear lady - likes to walk around outside in her underwear and her sister we call Sister Speedy for reasons I will get to in just a moment. When we first moved in the sisters were kind and talked to my husband and offered him some rocks from a pile they had and we had no problems with them. Shortly after that, however, Underwear lady called the Sheriffs Dept on us because our miniature dachshund was out of the yard. We solved that problem with no further issues. Now, we have what is called an Easment if front of our house which is a dirt road that is partially owned by us and partially owned by Brother-in-law. For Underwear Lady and Sister Speedy to get to their house they have to use this easment and it goes right in front of my house. Sister Speedy likes to drive very fast down this easment. Remember - I have 3 kids. We have knocked on Underwear Lady's door and Sister Speedy's door - when we KNEW they were home and got no answer. I have written a very nice letter to Sister Speedy and left on her door asking her to please slow down because I am afraid my children will not be paying attention and get hurt one day. After all this was ignored we put a sign at the start of the road that says "Slow Down". Nothing! One day my kids (ages 2, 7, and 10) and I were outside doing some yard work and here comes Sister Speedy zooming around us - we were in the driveway and didn't see her coming. I put some large rocks - about the size of a mans fist - on the easment because I was ticked! and I wanted her to slow down! Next thing I know the Sheriffs Dept is at my door and I have to move the rocks. I did explain to them why I had put them there but they didn't seem to care. Just this past saturday we had a large yard sale to benefit my church to help us pay off our building. We had our Pastor, his wife, and a few other people out to help us along with my 3 kids and 3 of their friends they had spend the night. Sister Speedy flies down the easment faster than ever and parks her car at her house. My husband begins to walk over and she is walking up the steps to her house and he says "ma'am can you please slow down?" She slams the door with no answer. Finally, sick of being ignored he calls the Sheriffs Dept and they come out and my husband presses charges for reckless driving/endangerment. He filled out a report and my pastor also fills out a witness statement that said she was approaching 35 mph with kids around. Now, there are no speed limit signs posted except when you first come into the housing area that says 15mph but I don't think it is an actual sign - I think its one that someone put up because its yellow and black. Not like any you see around. Also, in the past I called the Sheriffs Dept and spoke with a Deputy and explained to him the problem we were having but we realized there probably wasn't much we could do other than stand outside with a video camera and wait for her to speed by with my kids out there. Anyway, a couple of hours later the Sheriffs Dept shows up AGAIN because Underwear Lady had called them (she is always the one to call) and said someone was blocking their driveway (the easment). There WAS someone blocking it - it was some folks that had come to the yard sale and were taking forever to load their stuff. The cops had them move and they were pretty irritated at being called out a second time. Not only that but the Deputy that came out that day was the same one I had spoke to a while back about the speeding issue and he remembered me. Well yesterday my husband gets a call from the Sheriffs Dept saying Sister Speedy filed some charges on him and tried to put an Emergency Restraining Order on him which was denied. However, he has to pick up the papers this afternoon. We have no idea what she tried to charge him with. Then he gets home at 7pm last night and starts to load some stuff in his truck. He then goes out to the road and parks and gets out to open up our fence. Sister Speedy comes and is driving slow til she gets between the truck and him and she floors it. My husband ignores her. About 30-35 mins later my husband is working on his truck and she pulls into her driveway. I go in and get my camera - just in case - and I come back out and stand with my husband while he works on his truck. Well, she leaves her house and drives to the front of my house and Brother-in-law gets out and comes and tells my husband he doesn't appreciate him harassing his sisters-in-law. My husband says "I haven't harassed anybody sir" and he says "yes you have and I own half this road if you block it again and keep harassing them you are going to find yourself in jail". He walks off and realizes I had been video taping the whole thing and tells whoever is in the car "shoot first". 5-10 minutes later the Sheriffs Dept calls and tells my husband she is pressing charges on him for harassment - saying my husband was blocking her from exiting the easment and getting on the road. This is a complete lie - she has been telling the cops that my husband has waved sticks at her and she feels threatened by him. Now, my husband was a police officer in TX and a Deputy in NC. He now works as a contractor for the Army with a top security clearance. We are very active in church and he preaches at the jail once a month. He has never even talked to her except to ask her to slow down. We told the Deputy about the threat they had just made and he found it interesting that it was 45 mins earlier that he supposedly blocked her in and AFTER they had come and threatened him. Anyway, my husband filed harassment/threatening charges on her now. We will find out today if she filed anything on him last night. We are pretty worried her lies will get my husband arrested and ruin any future he might have in law enforcement or with his ts clearance. We have lots of people praying and we have our pastors statement and the SD has a copy of the video I took but this is getting rediculous! Is there anything we can do. I hate that her lying may get my husband in big trouble. It bugs me that we called the cops on her as a very last resort because we fear for our kids lives whereas she and her sister call at the drop of a hat! One good thing is with my husband being an ex-cop he knows how to write his reports and he wrote another one last night to the Deputy's request - it was very detailed containing times and everything.
Thank you for your time!
