I would like to one day advance myself up to be a k9 handler for VSP.
Any tips? Also whats the training like for it? I've tried searching youtube videos but nothing really comes up.

If you are selected, it will be on your potential, not what you learned beforehand. And they will train you to do it the way they want you to do the job.

I'd worry about getting hired first. Then after you've gotten in becoming a k9 handler will depend upon on the needs of the department. If a vacancy comes open in your division you can put in for it. Typically you have to have two years on and own a home so that they can't put a kennel at your house. Getting picked will depend on what county they ultimately want to put the dog in and the competitiveness of the other applicants. Patrol and bomb dogs are assigned to area offices. All drug dogs are assigned to the interdiction teams which is a lot more competitive. Training is about 12 weeks in Richmond and then monthly recertification.
