The officers were from Miami-Dade Police Department.
I think later articles said only Miami-Dade police officers were involved in the operation.

Was this warrant service part of the task force or was it separate? That's what wasn't clear to me. Later articles suggested only MD police were involved. The press seem to be unable to distinguish between involved and injured. :(

"The dead male officer was identified as Roger Castillo, of Davie, a 21-year-veteran. The female officer was identified as Amanda Haworth, 44, of Miramar, a 23-year veteran. Both had been wearing bullet-proof vests."
"The suspect, identified as Johnny Simms, 23, was killed in the gun battle. He was shot by officer Oscar Pasencia, one of the four officers at the scene. Another suspect was taken into custody, said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez."
R.I.P. Officers Castillo and Haworth
Castillo was survived by his wife and three sons.
Haworth was a single mom and survived by her son.

They were assigned to our regional fugitive task force. It's my understanding that it was a task force operation.
A terrible tragedy. Prayers are with the families and co-workers of the fallen officers. .

They were assigned to the Career Criminals section of the MDPD Warrants Bureau. They were also part of the Marshalls task force but were working in their capacity as Officers for MDPD.
Services will be carried out Monday at 11:00am at the American Airlines Arena, Miami, FL.
