Sitting on my side job this morning I hear units going lights and sirens to a home invasion call. Seems the suspect has been charged before with aggravated stalking of the victim who lives there. First unit arrives and states waiting for another. Couple minutes later, I hear a garbled transmission and then "Shots Fired" and the totally unpopular "Officers Down". Needless to say I tell the people at my side job I have to go!

Running lights & sirens and people STILL aren't getting out of my way!! 90+ mph through the grassy median then... Finally get on scene, in place on perimeter, and it's a standoff, so SWAT is called in. Luckily they had gotten all three wounded officers out, had to lifeflight at least one of them. Two of the three I know personally, so the adrenaline is pumping.

Anyway, please pray for the Deputies and their families. From what I know now, one is hurt pretty bad and in surgery, the other two not life threatening. Victim was also shot multiple times and I'm hearing the suspect also took at least 1 round.

My Sgt. calls and asks if I'll work days for the foreseeable future to help them out till the wounded Deputies get back on their feet. So, finish my side job at 1600 and then I'm getting in service to help as long as I can, then days for probably the rest of the weekend.
