Hi to all.

This is my first post.

So I took the NYPD test #1305 this week, scored 96.5% I was told to wait about 6 months to a year. On the recruit website it says the NYPD might call you after 4 weeks if your score is high enough. How likely is this?

Also, after reading the forums, I understand that there are two academy classes per year.
Once I receive my official score and rank on the list, is that list for the following class?

I'm very curious. If appreciate any answers and thoughts anyone can contribute.

Looking forward to being an active member on the forums.
Thanks

Topcop-

Welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you, but you need to know that we have a very strict rule here about usernames.

Members may not have a screen name that implies they are a Law Enforcement Officer if they are not. If you are not a Law Enforcement Officer, that's perfectly fine, but I need you to tell me what you would like your new screen name to be so we can get it changed.

Thanks in advance; I'm sure someone will be along shortly to answer your NYPD quesiton.

There is a backlog of canidates right now. Expect a call no sooner than 6 months and maybe a year. The exam and list number you get will be yours for life. remember them as many will ask as you process. Whihc class you get into depends on when you finish processing and how big the class when calls are made. How fast you get processed depends on your history, and how well you complete the paperowrk.

Thanks Joeyd6

I have a year and a half left in my Masters Program, so I have the time to spare. Hopefully it's not more than a year. In college my firends all joined the NYPD and it was easy for them because they went through cadets.
BTW, do you know how long it takes to be eligible to apply for special assignment after graduating from academy?

Forget about special assignments. You will get in big trouble with the senior cops with that talk and even at the acdemy. You can't do anything special till you learn to master the job. You can't master the job in any amount of time, but most find around year 5/6 or have a great grasp and can handle something else.

Hi everyone,
I took exam 1305 also, only scored a 85. But my question is if I already work for the nypd do you think I will be easier to switch over to become a cop?

For the computerized walk-in test, are you allowed to make notes? Or is it completely paperless?

You are given scrap paper and are allowed to take notes after the memorization part of the test.

Got mine today #59 on list. I guess I'll be contacted in a year or more if they ever get to our exam number.

You are on the sooner end of being contacted. Figure you should start to hear in about 8 months......

Joeyd 6,

Since you probably know most about the process. I am just beginning the process as well. I admit that I did have a few behavioral issues in 9th grade, but never in college. Is the BI going to go that far back and get records form my high school even though i am already 26 years old and those incidents were 10 yrs ago?

Thanks.
