I've been a police officer in the state of Michigan for the past 18 years. I'm looking to relocate to Minnesota and a back ground investigation has been started for a police job. My question is, is there anyone who has recently taken the Minnesota Post Reciprocity exam. I received the study book and with it being over 700 pages it's pretty overwelming. I was hoping someone could narrow down the areas of study I should concentrate on. Any help would be apreciated.

Matthew-

Welcome aboard. We have a rule here about those claiming to be Law Enforcement Officers. We ask that anyone who makes this claim become "verified." This prevents confusion among our members as to who is or is not an actual LEO, and gives you access to the restricted (LEO Only) areas Please look here (http://www.realpolice.net/forums/general-law-enforcement-topics-discussion-2/84360-verified-leo-guidelines.html) for information about the requirements and procedure for becoming "verified" as a Law Enforcement Officer.

Thanks-

I passed the reciprocity test back in December and it is not a piece of cake. I don't want to discourage you but make sure you study. I skimmed through all 700 pages and made a study guide which helped me tremendously. Know the various degrees of the criminal code and don't overlook DUI's. If you put in the time then you won't have much to worry about. There are a lot of common sense questions as well so being an experienced LEO, you shouldn't have a problem with those.

I have a friend who lives in FL and has been a Cop for almost 5 years and he wants to move to MN but is having trouble finding out when he can apply for the test because he doesn't know/can't find out if they will be going off of his start date which would be this July or his certification date which would be in Oct. Can any one please help he has called but know one will give him a straight answer.

Thanks :)
