Is NYPD really paying 90k or 76k?

The website says BASE is 76k, but ACTUAL is 90k "on average" before OT.

My father says always go by base salary, but NYPD has 6 or 7 increments on their website that change showing base first than "actual".

Any real NYPD cops here know the truth?

And what about with 2 days or so of OT a week? How much you guys making then?

Thanks...

You don't want to be a Cop.

With all of that red, you should be a Fireman.

There are OT caps in the NYPD. Most precints have them. That means you are limited on overtime. Most Manhattan commands are around the 235 hours a month mark. Plus as a newbiew, you yield OT for senior guys on their way out.

You will make the base. After that it is a crap shoot.

the salary is 76k plus holiday, uniform, and longevity, which every officer receives. So it's really more than 76k. They also put in average night shift differential and not every officer gets night shift, obviously. So if you're on day tours and you hit top pay, i'm guessing you'll be in the 80's without OT. You're going to get OT, maybe a little maybe alot. Depends on what command you're working. My command has a lot of OT and I'm not an OT guy. I avoid it, but i still get it from time to time.
