Boy my state makes me proud. :) Virginia's Atty Gen, Ken Cuccinelli, has ruled that police CAN "inquire into the immigration status of persons stopped or arrested," in a ruling that shows Judge Bolton's ruling in AZ doesn't carry weight in Virginia.
Cuccinelli was responding to a formal query by a state delegate who asked whether VA could mirror policies passed into law in AZ. Cuccinelli did make the distinction between criminal and civil immigration violations, and advised against arresting over civil immigration violations like overstaying a visa.
A Virginia judge today has also allowed the state to proceed with a legal challenge to Obama's healthcare reform. This is going to become a very rough summer for the Prez.
