Hey guys hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been around in a while because I spend a lot of free time training. I've gone from 236 to 184 in about 8 months. I finally have a chance to make a lateral move to a department in my hometown (7.5 hours away from good ol' VA), but I've been training to their previous PT standards.
They recently changed the standards to a 300M dash, 1.5 mile run, push ups, sit ups, and a 15.5 inch vertical leap. With my training I am very confident that I can complete the beginning of the test, however the vertical leap has me worried.
I think I'm relatively close, but close is not confidence, I'm looking to add just a few inches to my vertical in about 4 weeks, does anyone have any training advice? I'd be forever grateful. And Thank you in advance.

Congrats on the weight loss! That's quite an accomplishment.
15.5"? I wonder how they came up with that number?
Congrats on the weight loss - that's awesome!
Try some of these exercises from Air Alert 4...

I know this thread is basically dead, but wanted to post two things. First, I passed both written/physical and now await the panel interview. I'm confident and hopeful that I have a shot to move back home to where my family is, but very sad that I might move away from guys I already trust and treat like a second family.
And two, RetDet, the number is a "minimum standard" established by the PA Chiefs Assoc. by studying something like 180+ PT entrance standards across the state. Depts. in PA are bringing in the Assoc. to administer PT tests to prevent people claiming any discrimination or other unfairness and attempting to bring civil litigation against Depts.
United, altough PA is a great state - went to college in Pittsburgh - VA is the best. :) Love everything about this state. You should move back!

But Safety Stevie, I DID visit Houston with my roomates back in college for a few days. We had driven from our woman's college in Pittsburgh all the way there and back. I think we spent our time partying with boys and slept throughout the day, so you're right, I don't know what it looks like, lol.
