If this is confirmed, there is no reason for this invasion of our Homeland to go unreported in the regular Media:
Multiple Ranches In Laredo, TX Taken Over By Los Zetas : New Patriot Journal (http://www.newpatriotjournal.com/Articles/Multiple_Ranches_In_Laredo_TX_Taken_Over_By_Los_Ze tas)
UPDATE: Confirmation from Laredo Sherriff's office and ICE still pending, initial reports conflicting.
By Digger - reprinted from The Cypress Times
The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed. As of this hour I cannot confirm 100% on the situation (I am at around 90%) - though the source is law enforcement in the area.
Founder of the San Diego Minutemen Jeff Schwilk tipped me off to this story and passes along the following information on the location. The ranches are said to be "near Mines Rd. and Minerales Annex Rd about 10 miles NW of I-35".

It would be nice if the media reported a story worth seeing, but forgetting that for a second...where the freaking flip is the POTUS!!! For crying out loud these people just invaded OUR COUNTRY (assuming the story is accurate). Our military should be down there mopping up the streets with these guys.:AR15firing: And yet the most pressing thing that BO has on his plate is how to properly word his apology letter to Mexico that we have so much land...after he gets done playing golf or vacationing that is.:mad2::mad2::banghead:

I just heard on the radio this morning that he's announced yet another vacation next month to Martha's Vineyard...
When I read that I literally said, "What the hell?!?!?!?" I've been in federal service for over 12 years and receive only 4 weeks of vacation. This jackass has been in federal service I think eight years now and he is gone a quarter of the time on some kind of vacation. I don't know whether to be pissed at the wasted salary or happy that he isn't at work screwing something up.
I'm relieved everytime he goes on vacation myself. He's not in the oval office f'n things up.

Hot Tea Radio - The Official Tea Party Patriot Radio Network (http://hottearadio.ning.com/)
LAREDO UPDATE 1pm pst sunday.By Cindy Chafian -New Patriot Journal Staff Writer and Shelby Blakely - Host Hot Tea Radio
The New Patriot Journal is committed to journalistic integrity. Yesterday, we received information regarding a circulating rumor detailing reports of two ranches outside of Laredo, TX having been taken over by armed members of a gang affiliated with the Mexican drug cartels.
It was the immediate priority for us, as a newspaper, to make sure the information being disseminated by us was factually accurate.
As the events of the day unfolded, it became apparent to those investigating it that there is more to the story than people are being led to believe. None of the officials at either the Laredo Police Department, The Webb County Sheriff, or the Border Patrol in charge of that region are willing to go on the record and deny such events have happened. Instead offering statements such as “we cannot confirm NOR deny such events have taken place”, or “nothing to report at this time”.
At the same time there have been those within these organizations, while unwilling to go on the record, for reasons unknown, who have confirmed reports of a call generated late Friday night regarding unauthorized persons on a ranch and that the Border Patrol as well as Webb County Sheriff officers were dealing with it.
When asked about an incident regarding unauthorized persons occupying a ranch in Texas, Public Information Officer for the Webb County Sheriff, Maru dela Paz said “authorities are looking into an incident, but there is nothing to report at this time.”
When asked to specifically deny such reports in order to dispel any rumors that are circulating, she would not do so, instead stating that if a press release were to be issued today or tomorrow, then we would receive notification at that point.
It’s important to note, that while we don’t have the full details as to what is going on, there is something happening. It may be an extremely volatile situation that the authorities are sitting on until it blows over--it may just turn out to be a situation where unauthorized persons are occupying a ranch on U.S. soil. The fact is right now the story is still developing.
We do not advocate nor encourage any individuals get involved with this. If there is something happening, the authorities are not talking about it for a reason, and it doesn’t do anyone any good to have citizens rushing to the Texas border to offer their assistance.
Please understand that the initial reason for running our story was to avoid any potential for rumor spreading. Those claiming that New Patriot Journal is spreading lies and rumors are false. We sought confirmation of a denial from the authorities involved. As of yet, we have not been able to get that confirmation. Until that point, this writer stands by her investigating and her story.

At this point I am still confused, I simply don't believe the conventional media anylonger. This is a lengthy Blogpost article that adds more confusion in my mind:
Mexican Drug Cartels Seize Texas Ranches: No Official Verification, Location Near International Bridge, News the Press Hasn’t Reported-UPDATED | DBKP - Death By 1000 Papercuts - DBKP (http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2010/07/mexican-drug-cartels-seize-texas-ranches-no-official-verification-location-near-international-bridge-news-the-press-hasnt-reported/)

I think this is a misunderstanding that blew out of proportion.
There was a full-tilt shoot out with 11 or 12 fatalities in Nuevo Laredo, MX on Thursday night. Enough gunfire that more than a few Laredo, TX residents called 911 to report it. A few grenade explosions were also reported.
I've been searching for anything on this story since you posted it. The only articles I can find are in political blogs. There is zero in the regular local news media. The blogs are claiming the news outlets are conducting a "news black-out" at the behest of the police.
I don't know, Creek... you worked in LE for many, many years. Have you EVER known local news reporters to ignore a story like this, to the point where they aren't putting out anything at all on it?
In my area, reporters would contact the PIO and if the PIO didn't give them something, they'd drive out there and take a look. Even if they were stopped by a police roadblock, they'd report that much and say something is going on and tell residents to avoid the area. My point is... they would report something, even if it was just to say the police issued a denial or that they were refused entry to an area.
I am in no way saying that such an "invasion" is outside the realm of possibility, I'm just saying let's get the facts before we load up the guns, or start claiming there is a cover-up going on. Sometimes a non-statement is just that. It means no information is available.
Because there has been zero further information, here's what I'm beginning to think... the bloggers are claiming to stand by their reporting because there has been no official "There is nothing going on" statement, even though people who've made direct calls to the Laredo Police Dept or the Webb County Sheriff have been told there is nothing going on.
The bloggers have been duped by a confusion about an incident that happened on the other side of the border. They won't admit error and they won't back down from from the original rumor, even though the longer they hold out, the more they'll end up looking like Chicken Little yelling "The sky is falling!". Some of those guys WANT to believe a border war is imminent.

Feds get 4 weeks after only 12 years?!? I had to put in 25 to get that much...... More than Obama is a bit out of whack.

Another drawback to the Internet. If anything is opined about enough times, it becomes the truth. The left did the same exact thing when Bush was in office. Some of the right wing "news" outlets are as valid as moveon.org.
Like Curt, anything is possible, but when something sounds too far fetched, it almost always is. The thing about Obama's dog getting a separate jet is just one example. Somebody wrote it and it took a life of its own.
The main media definitely picks and chooses what it tells the public, I admit. Thank God for the National Enquirer. It's a sleeze rag in a lot of ways, but it's broken stories no one else would touch, John Edwards for example. But I believe them a lot quicker than someone who just writes a blog.

I have yet to hear anything about this from my department. We would be first responders if it was happening. That is Chevy's backyard and he told me he would not let them play in it!
The reporter is looking for her two minutes of fame!

Thank you. I was hoping someone who actually knows something would chime in. The S. Texas border was a problem when I was a kid just after the Alamo, but that sounded too much off the wall.

Yep, I would give a hell of a lot more credence to two RP members who are the Texas State PoPo than I would to a blog site.
We get intell bulletins all the time reference border issues, but not a peep about this.

I don't trust the regular media either. But I don't trust "media" that are focused on an agenda either. The problem is that they put out enough bull**** that they lose credibility when they talk about something that's true.
I like this site. It seems to be non partisan in that they hammer both sides of the aisle when they lie.
