Google Texas Department of Public Safety, TDCJ for corrections and parole jobs. For probation jobs, you will have to check with the county (each probation department in a county is run independently from the state).

Be Safe.

Hate to sound overly simplistic, but all you can do is apply. With the Internet, it's pretty easy to find the websites of any departments you might be interested in and see if they're hiring and what their requirements are. Most have a way to contact them and ask questions directly.

There are no "tips", you either qualify or you don't for any particular department. It's like applying for any other job.
