First film by the Coen brothers. It sort of sets the formula they use in many of their other movies. While watching it I'm reminded mostly of Fargo and No Country for Old Men.

The movie itself was ok. The plot development was slower then continental drift, however there were some pretty gut wrenching scenes towards the end.

Plot spoiler:

I once read that the film corrects an old movie fallacy in the scene with Marty. Apparently the fact that he is bleeding would be a giveaway in real life that he's not dead yet as a dead body has no heart beat and thus doesn't really bleed. Movies often feature corpses that continue to bleed well after the person should be deadl. Anyway that's what I was told in a packet for a high school forensic science class (yes it referenced the movie) so I could be wrong.
