He could of just got a warning from police, but the cop ended up getting 4 week suspension without pay after his wrongful attack.

It was a wrongful attack! I saw it on youtube!
:biggrin5:
Is "wrongful" even a word? If it is, it shouldn't be.

He was suspended, apparently his department thinks so....

Where's the proof of his suspension? Or are you just regurgitating the story that came along with the video?

As an ex-skate boarder, this video makes me wonder where their dad's are in their lives.
I can remember doing dumb public property skating stuff. Skating behind "Thriftys" jumping off their loading docks. Using wooden pallets that belong to someone (mostly the company that owned the property).
While growing up I had several "run-ins" with Law Enforcement. Some casual encounters, some detentions.
The difference between my group of friends and the video above, was respect and ownership over our own actions.
To sum up the above.
If you don't want to be treated like a d*ckweed, don't act like one.

I don't believe the cop did anything wrong in the video. The skateboarders will very disrespectful, especially to the cop. He could have just got a lecture and went home, but he didn't even respect him.

If you watch the video, listen to what the officer tells the kid. It's right around the 2:02 mark. Sounds like he had plans to release to a guardian.
In addition, it is in my personal beliefs that some kids just have to learn the hard way.
I noticed you seemed to have received some "red" for your comments. As much as everyone is entitled to their opinion, you may want to seek insight before casting judgment.

EXCUSE ME?! :toetap05:
They are children, not adults. Children do not deserved to be talked to the same way adults address each other. Next, each one of those kids should have their butt’s beat by their parents. Well, that’s what their parents should have been doing all along…and maybe if their parents had taught them to respect adults this ‘situation’ would have been different.
Like BJJVad, I was a brat of a kid. I had run-ins with the local PD. The difference is my parents would beat the life out of me if I had been disrespectful to an officer.

Children have not so much respect anymore. I guess I am old school, but I do follow the teaching, He who spares the rod from his son, hates his son. The problem is most kids these days are spoiled, disrespectful and down right rude. Had this happened 70 years ago, I think the cop would have been considered to lenient.

Am I watching the same video?
I see a cop yelling at kids, and any time they say anything, he yells louder and interrupts them. Then, as they leave, he grabs one kid to make an example out of...including the all time classic line "anyone want to join him?".
I did not see disrespect to the cop at all, but if i heard right, I believe the cop called a kid a "punk". not exactly professional of him.
Also, I did read one post someone made about the kids "not respecting" the officer. Quick note, respect is earned, not granted.
Don't get me wrong, this is not a dig on cops that actully stop crime, but trivial crap like this is..well..crap.
Stopping people from breaking into my car gains respect.
Dedicating 42% of the police force to revenue generation via ticketing loses it.

That's part of controlling the scene. Lets them know they're not in charge. Pretty basic sociological concept, really.

Ah....heard that a time or two have ya? What were you doing that you shouldn't have been doing?

You do realize there are times when professionalism ends, right?

He HAS earned respect. By virtue of his age alone (respect your elders) and his position of authority granted to him by the State, ergo the citizens. He's already proven himself over and over again.

It was a crime, bonehead, just not a felony crime.

Keep in mind, we are only seeing the parts of the video the YouTube poster wants us to see. We have no idea how the kids were acting towrds the cop prior to him appearing on the video.

Had you been the owner of this business and these same kids where there, you would want them off your property to. I am assured you might feel compelled to post onto here that you would be that "cool" guy that allows kids to skate board on his property.
But let me ask you this. If you had around 500k-750k dollars wrapped up in this business. That means you have received a starter business loan from the bank and you owe money.
Knowing you owe that money, are you really going to tell me you are going to risk losing that business or any home you may also be financing for some kids who you don't know? Kids who generally skate for a couple of hours risking injury after injury, upping the ante each time. Kids that are in the way of your guys trying to drive trucks, move equipment, and very hard to see when driving forklifts with large pallet equipment. Are you the business owner who wants to keep the employee's you just invested all your time and money to hire, because they don't want to have to worry about hitting some kid? Kids that throw dirty looks and gestures when there are close calls.
Then let's say one of them does get hurt. Parents of this day and age, LOVE to blame businesses for their lack of parenting. And for whatever reason I have not been able to come up with, WIN in a lawsuit due to their shotty parenting abilities to a guy trying to run a business.
Now remember, this is your property. You have the RIGHT to remove anyone from your property that does not belong. Are you going to physically move these kids and risk that same possible chance of liability?
The answer to anyone that is SANE is a big fat ****ing, "Hell No!"
So who are you gonna call to get these kids of the property? A LEO.
Now, put yourself in a LEO's position rolling up to a call where you actually understand the position of the business owner and all of the listed above.
How are you gonna treat these kids? Are you gonna make an example out of them(one)? Some kids learn the hard way. Hell, I would venture to say, ALL kids learn the hard way at one point and time.
We don't get a book that has all the answers for every type of call, or every type of personality. Especially hard knock personalities when they are trying to look "hard" in front of their buddies. If one kid has to get his feelings hurt and dragged home to mommy, it drives home the point to not go back to that guys business ever again.
..and if you can't grasp that, you may be one of those people that still needs a big fat helping of reality.
